If you are a DIY handyman you may choose to install the insulation yourself. Installing insulation can be hot and physical work. Please remember that the roof cavities can warm up significantly in summer, so take care.
Any spaces in ceilings or walls, even those only centimetres in width, should be fitted with insulation. However, insulation should not be fitted around downlights. These require a space or cover between the insulation and the downlight.
All batts should fit snugly between ceiling joists or wall studs. This will prevent heat loss through gaps in between the batts. Wall cavities above windows, built-in wardrobes and manhole covers are common areas often overlooked.
